Planning

Everyone wants their home town to be the best it can be, both in the physical realm and in the manner in which the community manages itself.  Community and Regional Planning is the practice of using informed decision making regarding the policies and investments local governments use to manage land use and development.  The idea is to help communities achieve their desired visions through the efficient use of finances, infrastructure, and utilities while also effectively managing their natural and cultural resources.  Through a variety of best practices such as the application of advanced mapping technology, performance monitoring of public facilities, and evolved land-use policies that improve natural resource protection, communities can make decisions more effectively as they strive to manage development, retain community character, and achieve goals for economic growth.

We will never bring disgrace on this our City by an act of dishonesty or cowardice. We will fight for the ideals and Sacred Things of the City both alone and with many. We will revere and obey the City's laws, and will do our best to incite a like reverence and respect in those above us who are prone to annul them or set them at naught. We will strive unceasingly to quicken the public's sense of civic duty. Thus, in all these ways, we will transmit this City not only, not less, but greater and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us.
