The Finance Department oversees all financial aspects of the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission (GMRC). The Finance Director has a close working relationship with the Executive Director, Department Heads, Audit and Finance Committee, federal and state agencies and local member governments.
Georgia Mountains RC’s operating fiscal year is July 1 each year through June 30. An annual Financial Budget and Work Scope are prepared by the Executive Director and Finance Director, who works closely with the GMRC Finance Committee and Department Heads for presentation to the GMRC Council at the regular monthly Council meeting for their review. After the Council has reviewed the document, the Financial Budget and Work Scope is voted on and adopted for implementation July 1.
The Finance Department prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual fiscal reports in accordance with funding agency guidelines, maintaining accounting records and policies in accordance with applicable OMB circulars and federal and state guidelines. An independent public accounting firm prepares an annual financial audit at the end of each fiscal year. The annual financial audit after review and recommendation by the Audit and Finance Committee and Executive Committee is presented to the Council for review and approval prior to submission to appropriate funding agencies as stipulated to meet contract / grant compliance guidelines.
